Big Cuddly Lamprey: 95cm long
Description:
Sea Lamprey (Petromyzon marinus): This species of Lamprey is native to the Northern Hemisphere. It’s scientific name means “Stone sucker of the sea”. They migrate up rivers to spawn, where the larvae then travel downstream and become filter-feeders in silty rivers. Once they are adults, they migrate downstream into the sea. They can grow up to 120cm long.
Lampern/European River Lamprey (Lampetra fluviatilis): Found in the coastal waters of Europe, as well as in some northerly lakes. They grow up to 40cm long but are usually smaller. Lamprey were once a popular delicacy for English Royalty and are still a delicacy in parts of continental Europe, but their numbers have decreased massively within the UK.
This plush is made of custom printed soft velvet fabric to my own design, sewn and stuffed with polyester stuffing. They have plastic metallic safety eyes. The smaller ones have suction cups on their mouth to stick to smooth surfaces.
Please do not immerse in water, this isn't a real fish!
These plushies will come with a certificate of authenticity, detailling their species, the date they were made and proving that they are an original Palaeoplushie handmade in the UK and designed by Rebecca Groom.
As this is a hand made item, it is not intended for children and is designed to be an art piece for adults. As they are stitched by machine, they won't fall apart if handled roughly but have not passed the relevant safety standards to be sold as a child's toy.
